Lower North Island East Coast
Welcome to Lions District 202M!
District 202M – known as the Mighty M – stretches from East Cape down the East Coast to Wellington, then north along the Kāpiti Coast as far as Levin. Our Lions history runs deep: Masterton Host Waipoua was the third Lions Club established in New Zealand (November 1957), and many of our clubs are now celebrating 50 years or more of service.
For decades, we’ve made a positive impact through a wide variety of projects – and that remains our core mission. We’re now also reviewing the services we provide to ensure they’re relevant to the needs of today’s communities, attracting new members who may never have considered Lions before.
Our clubs are evolving. While we value our traditions, we are embracing technology and social media to connect with people in a world that operates 24/7. We welcome members who can give their time and skills in ways that suit their lifestyles – whether it’s energetic work like splitting firewood for those in need or helping with fundraising events such as raffles.
District 202M clubs are a diverse mix of ages, genders, and interests. Many are open to forming Club Branches around a specific interest or project, giving new Lions a focus while benefiting from the guidance of experienced members – all under the protection of Lions Clubs International’s indemnity scheme.
If you have a heart for service and want to be part of something meaningful, contact us to learn more about how you can get involved. Together, WE SERVE.
Meet the DG...
