Upper South Island and the West Coast
Welcome to Lions District 202E!
District 202E spans nearly half the top of New Zealand’s South Island – from the golden sands of Golden Bay, across the fertile Waimea Plains, over the Richmond Ranges to Picton’s bustling port, and through the vast Marlborough vineyards. It stretches down the East Coast past Kaikoura’s famous marine life and through rural North Canterbury to Christchurch – the Garden City – and as far south as the Rakaia River. On the West Coast, the district winds its way from Greymouth and Hokitika through lush, unique rainforests to Haast in South Westland.
Our clubs are as diverse as our landscapes. Most are now mixed clubs, each with its own character shaped by the community it serves – from small rural townships to regional hubs and Christchurch’s expanding suburbs.
Alongside Lions’ global causes – Hunger, Vision, Environment, Childhood Cancer, and Diabetes – our clubs take pride in projects that meet the unique needs of their communities. Many work hand-in-hand with local councils, community groups, and charities, building strong partnerships and lasting impact.
We’re also proud to have launched the New Zealand Motorhoming Lions Club – connecting people who share a love for the motorhoming lifestyle and service. Members can make a difference in the places they visit, whether by joining local projects or creating their own. The Lions name opens doors, making it easier to serve wherever you are.
If you’re community-minded and want to help make a positive difference, we warmly welcome you to join us. Together, in Lionism, WE SERVE.
Meet the DG...
